How Is The Average American Planning To Manage Finances Better This Year?

It’s unsurprising that Americans, much like the rest of the world, are feeling the need to ‘do better’ when it comes to managing finances. With soaring gas prices, high inflation, and sky-high rent, the answer to many people’s problems are more complex than ‘better personal finance’. But there are things that can be done, and thousands of survey respondents are doing them, or trying to.

Resolving to be better with finances is easier than actually taking action, so not everyone who wants to do better will follow through. However, according to a new study commissioned by Slickdeals, 76% of Americans have resolved to be smarter with their finances in 2022.

The top 5 goals stated by the 2,000 respondents to the survey were:

  • Getting out of debt (50%)
  • Removing unnecessary bills (47%)
  • Seeking out deals and discounts (44%)
  • Using a savings app (44%)
  • Applying for a credit card/credit increase (41%)
